An Observation Guide for a LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER
Read the following statements carefully before you observe.
1. Go around the Learning Resource Center.
2. Find out what learning resources are present.
3. Examine and describe how the materials are arranged and how they are classified. Are they free from dust and moisture? Are they arranged for easy access?
4. Read the guidelines/procedures for borrowing of materials. Are these guidelines procedures posted are available for the users to refer to?
5. Familiarize yourself with the guidelines and procedures. Take photos of the center (if allowed).
After you are through with your observation, classify the resources available that you believe are most useful. Use the activity form provided for you.
ANALYZE
Are the learning resources/materials arranged properly according to their functioalL characteristics?
The person in charge of the upkeep and maintenance of the learning resource center is a librarian. She has her own table within the room. All of the materials and equipment are arranged and properly well managed as we expect from a great learning resource center
Do the guidelines and procedures facilitate easy access to the materials by the teachers? Why not?
When it comes to the use of resources, such as textbooks, microphones, speakers, and projectors, these are all closely monitored. The student or teachers who want to borrow the materials will sign up on a borrower's slip, specifying when they will return the materials. This is especially critical to avoid the loss of valuable educational materials
What are the strengths of this Learning Resource Center?
The main strength of the learning resource center is that it is conducive to learning, thanks to the efforts of the school and the librarian. There are a lot of pictures are posted on the walls, serve as learning materials for the students. The learning resource is a haven of information that can be used by both students and teachers. The ICT resources are also are one of their dominant strength.
What are its weaknesses?
Its weakness is the librarian can not monitor all the students who enter the learning resource center. The students may get books without the permission of the person in charge they can bag them home without noticing from the Librarian.
What suggestions can you make?
My suggestion is they should put CCTV in the learning resource center to monitor everyone in the room.
