John 14:8-13
Jesus Relationship with the Father
8 Philip said, "Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us."
9 Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? 10 Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. 12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.
Jesus has a special relationship with God...Philip asks Jesus to show us (the disciples) the Father, and that will be enough for us...Jesus responds by saying I have been around for three years now and don't you know I am in the Father and the Father is in Me...My words are from My Father, who is in Me doing His work...And Jesus repeats He is in the Father and the Father is in Him...And if you cannot believe this look back and believe on the miracles I have done...
Jesus tells them that He is going to the Father and He will do even greater things because of this (going to the Father)...Jesus wants to bring glory to the Father through the disciples work, so ask for things that can bring glory to the Father, through Jesus...This is a very special relationship, which is so close and so intimate...The relationship of the first two parts of the Trinity...The relationship of the Father and the Son...
