John 14:6-14
Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
Jesus spoke with clarity and an authoritative voice...God gave Jesus the authority to speak the Truth...Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth...Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I AM with you always, even to the end of the age.”...Far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that has ever been named, not only in this age but also in the one to come, Jesus has been given all authority...God has given Jesus authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man...
So, as a Leader, Jesus given this authority from God, we can look at Him for guidance and as an example of how we should lead our lives...He is the Truth, and the Way to live one's life...He is One that is Perfectly Moral and works to help us work in harmony with our neighbors...With many leaders of this world being politicians it seems that there are some who are trying to divide us and not unite us as Jesus wants...Jesus was not one who spoke much of politics...Jesus is trying to unite us in love...Driving out love divides and is against the rules of God's Kingdom...Jesus focused on teaching about God, helping us learn more about Him, helping others...His teachings on Spiritual Ideas are second to none...He wanted His Disciples and followers to build a world who would follow His Teachings, which is a different world than one that believes in an eye for an eye...It is a world of ordinary people living with their neighbors is a loving and forgiving way...Those who believe in Him will do the works He did, and they will do even greater things than He did on earth....He would return to His Father and be at His Right Hand...
Author Philip Yancey writes about life from the Christian perspective...“Jesus did not mix his spirituality with politics.”...“Politics, which always runs by the rules of ungrace, allures us to trade away grace for power, a temptation the church has often been unable to resist.”...“One reason the broader world does not look to Christianity for guidance is that we Christians have not spoken with a credible voice.”...“Because of our failure to live out our beliefs, our own lack of moral clarity, and our meddling with partisan politics, Western culture no longer looks to Christianity as its moral source.”...“A political movement by nature draws lines, makes distinctions, pronounces judgment; in contrast, Jesus’ LOVE cuts across lines, transcends distinctions, and dispenses grace...Regardless of the merits of a given issue — whether a pro-life lobby out of the Right or a peace-and-justice lobby out of the Left — political movements risk pulling onto themselves the mantle of power that smothers love...From Jesus I learn that, whatever activism I get involved in, it must not drive out love and humility, or otherwise I betray the Kingdom of Heaven.”...“Our confused society badly needs a community of contrast, a counter-culture of ordinary pilgrims who insist on living a different way...We can make the world stop and think before pulling a trigger, or exacting revenge, or neglecting the vulnerable, or practising euthanasia on those it deems ‘devoid of value’.”...
