John 14:6-7
Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
When Jesus was put on the cross and died for our sins, He made a connection with all men...God then raised Him from the dead and made Him our Savior...So we know as St. Paul says, God has made Jesus the anointed One and appointed One...And he tells the Athenians, God has overlooked our unbelief in the past, but now He commands all people everywhere to repent...For He has set a day when He will judge the world with justice by the Man He has appointed...He has given proof of to everyone by raising Him from the dead...
We are given a Savior, by God that enables us to get to God and to Heaven...God has given One the Truth, the Life, and the Way to Him and to heaven...Jesus draws us to God...
Jesus said that “no one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day...Jesus went on to say that, “This is why I told you that no one can come to Me unless the Father has enabled them.”...Does Jesus mean that only certain people can come to Him, that the Father somehow gives some people some special means to come to His Son?...And when Jesus was lifted up on the the cross He will draw all men to Himself and to the Father...
It is Jesus' death on the cross and His taking away ours sins that gives us this tendency, this draw, and our inherit desire for us to think about Him and what He has done for us...Because He has saved us from our sins, we can believe that this connection with Him, draws us to Him...God has raised His Son from the death...Who else is the Only Way to God...We have this interest and tendency in our God, because He is our Creator, and because Someone had to create us and all things, we have this tendency and interest in Him - to find out the why...We want ro know why, He is our Father...And then the death on the cross of His Son, whom all things are and were made through Him, gives us another interest and the Holy Spirit thought...So the interest in Him and His Son with our sins is another connection...
Some are drawn to Jesus more than others...Some are just have a little interest and only in a convenient Way to His Father and to Heaven after they have passed...But there are others who earnestly seek Him and find Him and are committed to the Father and His Son...With God giving us free will, He, nor Jesus, nor His Holy Spirit pushes us to get closer to Him...But those committed to Jesus, want to more about Him, to find out more about His claims to be One with the Father, and those who have seen Jesus have seen God - they want to know what He meant by these things and look at Him and reflect on Him with faith..And things like why did He say He is the Only Way to the Father...
If God wanted to, He could make everyone a believer and give everyone a strong faith, but He has chosen not to...He leaves that decision up to us through faith...The word faith and how we use our faith, and believe in God seems to be on a sliding scale...With God giving us free will, I believe that is how it is...There are those with weak faith, there are those with medium faith, and those strong in faith...We choose how close we want to be with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit...We have to decide personally, who Jesus is, and how we want our relationship to be with Him...
