1 Corinthians 15:29-32
The Importance of the Resurrection
29 Now if there is no resurrection, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized for them? 30 And as for us, why do we endanger ourselves every hour? 31 I die every day—I mean that, brothers—just as surely as I glory over you in Christ Jesus our Lord. 32 If I fought wild beasts in Ephesus for merely human reasons, what have I gained? If the dead are not raised,
"Let us eat and drink,
for tomorrow we die."
John 14:6-7
Jesus Says He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
For the non-believer, there is his personal truth and way to go about his way of life...He finds no adequate foundation in life and thus finds little hope in life after his death...In the daily choices he makes, he is believing that there is no gospel and that there is no resurrection, and thus no life after death...To the non-believer, his hope of heaven are nil, and thus he has little hope as he ages into his older years, after he dies...As Paul said, so let us eat drink and be merry today, for tomorrow we die -and there is nothing else...
Now the believer sees Jesus as this Great Hope...The believer sees Jesus as a Living Divine Man, after His resurrection...And so when Jesus said He is the Way, the Truth and the Life -He is giving us this hope...This hope that He gives us lies in the fact, that there is an Absolute Truth and Way to live your Life...Jesus gives us this foundation throughout the four gospels in His Teachings...And the belief in Him and this Great Hope of His, culminates in His resurrection...
