The Way, The Truth, and The Life
6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Luke 10:38-42
At the Home of Martha and Mary
38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!"
41 "Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."
We often want to be in control, do our own thing, be working on something, and each day do the things that we want to do...In our daily activities, we often look for a happiness, a certain interest that we like or want, a desired objective, a certain level of happiness or attainment, or some sort of achieved result...The Jesus Way is not this way, but is His Way...Jesus says He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life...That is the Way it is in His Kingdom...I believe Martha and Mary found this out when Jesus told Martha, that Mary chose the better of working or listening to Him as Martha worked and Mary listened to Him...Mary had chosen what is better, and it would not be taken away from her...She followed and listened to Jesus...It looked to Martha, that Mary had achieved little as she was working...
The Jesus Way is the Way that follows and listens to Him...In His Kingdom, He is the Leader and Master and His disciples, apostles, and followers understand that...Each follower wants and tries his and her best to do things each and everyday His Way...Author Philip Yancey put it this way, “Jesus’ Kingdom calls us to another way, one that depends not on our performance but His Own...We do not have to achieve but merely follow.”...
