John 14:6-7
The Way, The Truth, and The Life
6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him."
What kind of a Man stands up and says that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life?...I believe a Divine Man...And Jesus is not a way, a truth, and a life...He is THE Way, THE Truth, and THE Life...
Jesus is the only way get to the Father...Jesus says no one comes to the Father except through Me...Jesus is the only way to know the Father...He tells us, if we know Him, we will know the Father as well...We get to the Father and can be close to the Father, through knowing His Son and His teachings...Once we really know the Son, the better we will know the Father...The more we study and learn about and from the Son, the more we will know the Father...The more we know about the Son the closer we will be to Him (the Father) and we will be able to see Him (the Father) better...
Jesus is the absolute Truth...He is our absolute moral Truth...We need Him to be morally good...His teachings, attributes and His ways teach us what true goodness really is...
Jesus is the purpose of life...St. Luke writes in his gospel about Jesus saying, "Whoever wishes to save his life, will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it" (Luke 9:24)...His disciple St. John writes not only about life in his gospel, but also about eternal life...In John 3:16, we are told that God so loves the world that He gave His One and Only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life...For God did not send His Son to condemn the world, but to save the world...
Purpose and Truth overlap...Without truth, what would life be like?...How would each of us get along...Without Him why do we need to be good?...Truth and goodness would be on the same level as lies and selfishness...They would just be words and not truth...We could do anything on earth and in this world...We could do anything, right or wrong without the Father and Son...The majesty of man would rule...Man's desires, pleasures, and comfort would rule the world...The smartest, strongest, and powerful would rule the world...The meek, the humble, and those that turned the other cheek would be destroyed...We need Jesus and God's judgment for us to have an Absolute Truth, with Absolute Judgement...
