Hebrews 13:8
Jesus the Same Forever
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
John 18:28-40
Jesus on Trial
28 Then the Jewish leaders took Jesus from Caiaphas to the palace of the Roman governor. By now it was early morning, and to avoid ceremonial uncleanness they did not enter the palace, because they wanted to be able to eat the Passover. 29 So Pilate came out to them and asked, “What charges are you bringing against this man?”
30 “If he were not a criminal,” they replied, “we would not have handed him over to you.”
31 Pilate said, “Take him yourselves and judge him by your own law.”
“But we have no right to execute anyone,” they objected. 32 This took place to fulfill what Jesus had said about the kind of death he was going to die.
33 Pilate then went back inside the palace, summoned Jesus and asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?”
34 “Is that your own idea,” Jesus asked, “or did others talk to you about me?”
35 “Am I a Jew?” Pilate replied. “Your own people and chief priests handed you over to me. What is it you have done?”
36 Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”
37 “You are a king, then!” said Pilate.
Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”
38 “What is truth?” retorted Pilate. With this he went out again to the Jews gathered there and said, “I find no basis for a charge against him. 39 But it is your custom for me to release to you one prisoner at the time of the Passover. Do you want me to release ‘the king of the Jews’?”
40 They shouted back, “No, not him! Give us Barabbas!” Now Barabbas had taken part in an uprising.
John 14:6-7
Jesus Says He is Truth
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
John 16:12-15
The Holy Spirit Guides Us to the Truth
12 “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”
Acts 1:1-5
Jesus is on Earth for Forty Days After His Death
1 In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach 2 until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen. 3 After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. 4 On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”
Matthew 5:17-20
Jesus Fulfills the Law and Prophet Books
17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19 Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
The question Pilate asks, "What is Truth", is a very good question...But as Jesus talks to Pilate, Jesus wants to know if it something personal Pilate has been thinking about or did he just ask , “What is Truth?”, as a passing thought?...When we look at and study Truth, when we are searching for Truth, when we believe in Truth and when we are wanting to be honest and follow the Truth -these mindsets are some of the first steps toward finding the Truth...
Jesus is our Universal Truth...Jesus told Pilate that His Kingdom is not of this world, but of Another World...But no matter what world you are from those that are on the side of the Truth, always listen to Him...Jesus said this when He was on trial for His life...And He spoke calmly and in control about the Truth...Jesus is telling us (and Pilate) that He is the Universal Truth, whether one is from His Kingdom in heaven or if one is from here and living on earth...So those that reject Him (if you believe what He says), then you are rejecting the Truth of Life, and the Reality of Life...If you believe in Him and accept His Truth, then we should live His Truth, since those on the side of His Truth listen to Him...
Jesus stood up one earlier day and told His Disciples that He was Truth...He spoke this right before His arrest, but He again seems in control of the situation, right before the Romans arrested Him...At that time, I do not think His Disciples understood what He meant, that He was the Truth and also the Way, and Life...And when He said that He was the Way, the Truth, and the Life, He immediately says He is the Only Way to God Himself...He is telling His Disciples and us that Truth is exclusive...He had said so many extraordinary things and deep things prior to this to His Original Disciples and they had seen so many different miracles, that I doubt if they understood all He was saying, let alone in doing His miracles (what might they have thought)...But soon after His death and resurrection, I believe His Disciples better understood the Absolute Truth He is...And many other things He said and did were better understood after His resurrection...Since He kept teaching them for forty more days, they would have learned quite a lot after His death and resurrection...
So those immediate followers following Jesus better understood the Truth in Him, and His Truth after His resurrection...They would have found meaning in Him, as well meaning in their own lives...After all who overcomes His own death...His Authority on earth now gave life its purpose...Jesus lived out His life in Truth, while always telling the Truth...Jesus’ Truths and His Teachings were universal and epitomized the tangible and the real Truth of the World and Universe...That is why He is Truth, and everyone who believes in the Truth listens to Him...Those following Him found that Truth became personal, and Truth could now be measured by Something, no rather by Someone...Someone who was a Person, was the Truth...His Truth allows us the Greatest Truth of All...Jesus' Truth leads us to God, who is the beginning and the ending of all Truth...He is our Universal Truth and Reality...He alone is the Only One that satisfy our deepest question of "Why am I here"...Truth exists, because Jesus exists...As the Absolute Truth He is unchanging...
If one believes in God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and the Bible when Jesus says He fulfills the Law and Prophet Books of the Bible, then He is Truth, the Bible is Truth, and God is Truth...And the Holy Spirit leads us to His Truth...Truth is found in the Person of Jesus, the Son of God...
