Jesus 14:6-7
Jesus Says that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
When we speak of Truth, Jesus stands as the Ultimate Exegete, illuminating the depths of our reality with His Radiant Presence....He is not merely a Savior, Master, Teacher, a Philosopher, and of course, our Greatest Theologian, but He is the Embodiment of Truth itself...His words are not just pronouncements, but living expressions of Divine Wisdom...And to be wise one must know the Truth, and He knows All Truth...He is Divine Truth...He is Eternal Truth...He knows all things, so His Truth was here yesterday, and is here today, and will be with us forever...
When Jesus spoke the Greatest Words Ever Spoken, He spoke with authority, not as the scribes and Pharisees and teachers of the law, but as one who had direct access to the Source of all Truth, His Father...He spoke as One Who has come from God to Teach us about Himself and His Father...His Words are not simply interpretations or deductions, but revelations of the innermost nature of reality and Truth...This is one of the reasons He said that God's Word is Truth...
Jesus' exegesis of Truth is not limited to His Words...His critical explanation and interpretation of Scripture, and the Old Testament is Exactly how we are to understand the Old Testament...He gave us a different point of view of the Old Testament and how He has fulfilled this Scripture...His Teachings on God and following His Will helps us better understand the meaning of the Old Testament in its original context, taking into account His Being with God from the beginning...So He gives us the historical and cultural background, and the genre of the Old Testament and of God Himself...His entire life is a living commentary on the Nature of Truth...His actions and deeds were not just examples of how to live a moral life, but He demonstrates the Power of Truth to transform, redeem and to save (by Being Our Savior)...This is why He came to earth, to testify in His Own Words the Truth...
In Jesus' ministry, He constantly challenged the prevailing notions of Truth and how the current religious people were interpreting the Old Testament and also life...He exposed the hypocrisy of those who claimed to uphold the law, while ignoring the weightier matters of justice and mercy...He wants us to learn mercy not sacrifice...He overturned the tables of the money changers, declaring that God's Temple had become a den of thieves...He healed the sick and outcasts, demonstrating that God's LOVE is not limited to those who are deemed worthy...We all are equal in His and His Father's Eyes...Therefore, everyone is worth and going to be forgiven, when He died on the cross...Jesus died on the cross forgiving all men and women of each of our sins...
Through His words and actions, Jesus revealed the Truth that God is not a distant and unknowable Being, but a LOVING Father who is intimately involved in the world...He showed that Truth is not a set of abstract principles, but a living force that has the power to set us free...When we follow Jesus' Teachings and Truth, His Truth will set us free...When Jesus said that today My Father is working on the Sabbath, He is saying that affirming that God is not a distant and inactive Living God, but a God who is actively involved in the world, even on the Sabbath...
Jesus' interpretation of Truth is not just for the past...His Words continue to speak to us today, offering guidance and direction in a world that is often confused and uncertain...A world that is losing the path to Truth...As we seek to understand the Nature of Truth, we can do no better than to turn to the One who is the embodiment of Truth itself...
In Jesus, we find the Ultimate Embodiment of Truth...He is the One who reveals the depths of reality to us...His Words are not just pronouncements, but living expressions of Divine Wisdom and Divine Truth...He Truths are the same yesterday, today, and forever...He is Eternal, Infinite Truth...His life is not just a model for imitation, but a demonstration of the Power of Truth to transform and redeem and save...As we follow Him, we are drawn into the Mystery of Truth, and we begin to see the world as it truly is...In this Mystery of Truth we can hear and see the Words, when He told His Disciples, I AM the Truth, the Way, and the Life...No one comes to the Father, except through Me...
