John 14:6-7
Jesus is Truth
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
The gospel is all about Jesus...And He says many things in the gospel...So when I first read that Jesus called Himself the Way, the Truth, and the Life, I wondered what He might mean...It means that Jesus has a Way that we can and should live our lives, much like Him and He will get us to God and to Heaven, and that He is much like God...Or as He says it when we really know Him, we will know His Father as well...When be have faith in Him and His Father, we want to live and be more like Him and follow His Ways...So when we live the Way of Jesus we do know and have seen God...Brennan Manning and C. S. Lewis put Jesus teachings mean and what the Way, the Truth, and the Life are about in a very good Light...
When we are like Jesus we have a harmony of always righteous morals, aglow with peace, joy, boldness, and extravagant, furious love for God and for others...When we share these characteristics with others and live this kind of life -we also shall be sons of God...We shall love the Father just as Jesus does and we will be filled with the Holy Spirit...We will have a better life and an abundant life...We will know the Truth, and His Truths shall set us free...
Author and Priest Brennan Manning wrote: “The gospel is absurd and the life of Jesus is meaningless unless we believe that He lived, died, and rose again with but one purpose in mind: to make brand-new creation...Not to make people with better morals but to create a community of prophets and professional lovers, men and women who would surrender to the mystery of the fire of the Spirit that burns within, who would live in ever greater fidelity to the omnipresent Word of God, who would enter into the center of it all, the very heart and Mystery of Christ, into the center of the flame that consumes, purifies, and sets everything aglow with peace, joy, boldness, and extravagant, furious LOVE...This, my friend, is what it really means to be a Christian.”...
Author C. S. Lewis said this to follow up on Mr. Manning's thoughts: “Now the whole offer which Christianity makes is this: that we can, if we let God have His way, come to share in the life of Christ...If we do, we shall then be sharing a life which was begotten, not made, which always existed and always will exist...Christ is the Son of God...If we share in this kind of life we also shall be sons of God...We shall love the Father as He does and the Holy Ghost will arise in us...He came to this world and became a Man in order to spread to other men the kind of life He has — by what I call "good infection."...Every Christian is to become a little Christ...The whole purpose of becoming a Christian is simply nothing else.”...
