Revelation 19:16
King of King and LORD of LORDS
16 On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: king of kings and lord of lords.
John 18:33-39
Jesus, King of Truth
33 Pilate then went back inside the palace, summoned Jesus and asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?”
34 “Is that your own idea,” Jesus asked, “or did others talk to you about me?”
35 “Am I a Jew?” Pilate replied. “Your own people and chief priests handed you over to me. What is it you have done?”
36 Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”
37 “You are a king, then!” said Pilate.
Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”
38 “What is truth?” retorted Pilate. With this he went out again to the Jews gathered there and said, “I find no basis for a charge against him. 39 But it is your custom for me to release to you one prisoner at the time of the Passover. Do you want me to release ‘the king of the Jews’?”
John 14:6
Jesus is Truth
6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Matthew 23:8-12
Jesus Teaches Us to be Servants
8 “But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers. 9 And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. 10 Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Messiah. 11 The greatest among you will be your servant. 12 For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.
John 15:13
Jesus Shows Us His LOVE
13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends.
Jesus is the King of Kings...But He really did not go around acting like a king...Kings rule over people and courts...Kings lead armies and make laws...Jesus never spoke much about armies, or courts, or man's laws...And He knows people, better than anyone...And when He spoke throughout the four gospels, He doesn't sound like a King...He sounds like the Great Teacher that He is...He sounds like a Great Rabbi, that He is...He even sounds like a Great Philosopher at time...When He says the statement, that He is the Way, that He is the Truth, and He is the Life, it sounds more Divine than it does Kingly to me...But maybe that statement is both Divine and Kingly...
Jesus never traveled around as a traditional king...The most He traveled was two hundred miles from Bethlehem...Nor did He compare or liken Himself to any king of His time...Jesus did have large crowds follow Him...The people who followed Him were common, average people, and many of them outcasts of society...He teaches His Disciples that the greatest of them, will be your servant...But He does tell Pilate that He has a Kingdom, which does make Him a King...For one cannot be a King without followers...And when we think about Kings, especially Great Kings we think of certain things...We believe a Great King is just, righteous, wise, loving, merciful, forgiving, humble, and always seek the Truth...Jesus is a King, when we think of those characteristics...And He died for us, and for the sins we committed...He is a King who judges our hearts, and not our outer appearances...He is, in fact, King of Kings and LORD of LORDS...
