John 14:6-7
Jesus is Truth
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
Jesus said He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life...So the gospel is living and active and in our Teacher...The gospel that Jesus teaches is not a doctrine of the tongue only and one to be read, but is to be lived, and is the gospel of life...
The gospel is often missed because it cannot be understood from just reading His teachings, but again it must be lived...Jesus' gospel is for living and for life...The gospel pierces the heart and is the Living Word of God...The gospel is sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to the dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; the gospel judges the thoughts and attitudes of one's heart...
St. Paul about how he believed in Jesus' teachings and wrote to the Romans about the gospel of Jesus, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek."...
So the gospel we read has to be how we live and act...The gospel is not to be read and then put back on a shelf...All the books, the scholars, the teachers of the law often do not get us closer to God and His Son...It maybe better to read the gospel and the living Word and asking Jesus to help us understand it better and Him better, and to live out His teachings better...We need His help to put it into our lives and in our daily routines...We must not allow our reading just be a reading and not be put into our lives...We need to make it our ways and to make these ways a personal relationship with our Teacher...When our world view and gospel of Jesus becomes only something we have read and is not a part of our lives, we have missed the gospel He teaches us...We can see this in how He lived....So the gospel is more than reading, but the Way, the Truth, and the Way to live our lives...It is, He is our Way to the Father and to Heaven...
