The Lithium Model

Imagine a construct. Where the thinking mind is a model vehicle with an engine. Trapped inside this blank, white construct, like in the movie matrix. The bigger the engine, the smarter the person with intelligence. It became big because it had to. It had no choice. It grew into bigness. Without the power, this mind would loose control and direction, if unable to maneuver at the right spots and time on this plain of reality. To make the sharp turns of decision making, this mind grew faster and faster. Problem is, when becoming big, this vehicle of thought needs more traction. Without the traction, it falls off the plain of reality. Off the finite edge into a free fall. No parental fence to stop or protect us going off the edge. This is what we call Bipolar.
The traction: Here is where lithium comes in. Lithium looks like triangles, more specifically cones, to this model thought-vehicle. With the pointy end, the tip like an iceberg, of the cones, protrudes upwards from the flat plain of thought. The more lithium crystal substance there is that secretes into the brain, the larger the tips. A plain with tips protruding from the base. This is traction. Now this large engine is able to maneuver where ever it likes. There is a window that this mind-vehicle can operate in. A window for the amount of lithium a person can operate in, is blood level 0.6 to 1.2 mEq/L. I suggest 0.6 to 1.0 mEq/L. When it is below, the thought engine loses traction. If above, the engine begins to get restricted, plus other body functions. The tips penetrate the engine, stopping it to move where it needs to. It is reported everyone one needs lithium in their diet. If a person find their reality going off the proverbial edge, perhaps more lithium needs to be ingested. The more intelligence of power of thought, the more lithium. Perhaps why the Government finds it necessary to record lithium usage, to maintain a record of intelligent people. Just a thought.
