Any scholars out there that are able to confirm?
I perhaps had an epiphany.
The crosses for crucifixion were used over and over for the "criminals". What if Pontius Pilate in his own way wanted to send a messages to the people. Or should I say the Holy Spirit who is able to work through all living things. Logic is suggesting Christ received a new cross. One that has never been used. Why?
Because if the crosses were used over and over again, they would be left in place, time not wasted. Yet - Jesus carried his cross. Was it because it was a new cross? Was the new cross (new way) to be displayed before all the people?
"This man is innocent and deserves a new cross." or "Look, I am giving your King a new cross" or "He deserves something new and clean."
I think so.
