Daniel 3:14-23

In verse 19 the king asked for the furnace to be made 7 times more than normal, because when you have a jar of water or a wood stick that is wet, but the outside is dry, thrown into something very hot, it explodes.  Pressure inside the wood, and when the pressure becomes too great, the wood fibers burst open, producing the popping sound.

Nebuchadnezzar knew this.  He was this angry with them and himself for trusting them.

Verse 20 - 21 : In order to tie these three up as tight as possible with rope. Even the clothing as to be nothing loose to let moisture (water content) to leak out slowly.  He had to get the strongest men around. To wrap them up like a firecracker.

Verse 23 - The the three were thrown in quickly like you would with a wood stick or fire cracker, but the doors to the furnace were not able to be closed quick enough to protect the men that bound them.

Verse 24 - Nebuchadnezzar didn't hear the pops.  He was astonished.

Verse 25 - The doors were left open because the heat was so great, They had to let go of the doors in haste.. Then they looked.
