I am seeing some commentators say Paul was made an apostle because Jesus met him on the road to Damascus. Well... yes and no.
The definition as I understand it, is an apostle is someone who has seen Jesus after the resurrection and commanded by Him. Both: Command and Seen.
The apostleship of Paul is not explained very well by commentators. Here is what happened to Paul to validate him as an apostle, I will explain it backwards of sorts.
Paul physical saw Jesus, 1 Cor. 15:8
Commands for Paul, Acts 9:1-7, plus others (we don't know) heard by voice.
Everyone wants to make a long dissertation. All it is, is just these two things, that's it.
