Survival Skill #1: Forgiveness

Matthew 18

Forgiveness is the decision to release the person of the obligation that resulted when they injured you.

When you hurt somebody; when you shame them, embarrassed them, or wound them. You are taking some thing from them. You are taking their comfort, their dignity; you’re taking something from them. When a person sins against you that creates a debt. Forgiveness in effect is saying “You don't owe me”

Forgiveness does NOT:

1. require Enabling
   1. pending problem, you don’t take to mall
   2. I can not support whatever will hurt you or me.
2. Require rescuing.
   1. Do not have to bail out to curb consequences.
3. Require Risking
   1. I don’t have to put myself at risk.

There are no enduring relationships without forgiveness. Must have a growing capacity to forgive.
