Paul: Four squads of soldiers. Two at his side, being chained between the two, and two outside. Have you ever wondered why? I have for the last 11 years of my salvation. I have been always trying to grasp, why so much power and force.
Then, at church, as the pastor was trying to get the church back to God through prayer; it came to me. By the Holy Spirit I give credit. But, before I explain it, I will give modern a day example. By exposing this practice, I may be compromising my own safety. I have been under watch for a while now by God and man.
I have seen many righteous people, pastors, individuals; who have been compromised, murdered, brought down, by corrupt government officials. Case in point: While the president of the US was having his sex, and his highest official (now almost eliminated from history) who hated God, laid a murderous sentence on a group of people. This person who was among the morally corrupt officials say, "He/she is a child molester", "He/she has many spouses". One case, "He abuses children" to which catches the hearts of most people, then to catch the hearts of the (supposed) religious people, "He claims to be Jesus". So now the public is on board for the capital sentence going to be carried out. And besides, everyone under the government would tell themselves, they are government officials which they would know the truth and tells us. Proof in point: God had his revenge of those people that were murdered by the government, by taking away twice the amount of people from the government, the exact amount. That can not be done by a person. Many become filled with rage upon hearing this.
Now back to Peter. Are you getting the picture? Herod was obtaining the will of the people for the public trial (v4) by showing he "truly" believed Paul was a criminal. "Look, I have all these guards for him. He really is a very bad and dangerous person". To which the public would believe and have a will for Peter to be executed. Truth my friend, seeks to be exposed like light, but darkness finds ways to cover it up by any means.
