We currently use Quintype for our Matter News CMS. They are a startup out of India that gave us the CMS for free as a beta user in the US. It is made specifically for news publishers and they are constantly adding featured.
The main features we use on the site are creating posts, collections and creating static pages.
Our basic landing page for GMM is greymattermedia.org
Note: GMM domain expires 3/6/23 and is through Cassie's GoDaddy account
Support is very responsive and usually within 24 hours, and typically within 1.
Options:
Email support@quintype.com
You can also live chat with support via the chat bubble icon at the bottom right corner of the Quintype back end.
If you want a quicker response, sending a message to the chat in the CMS is quicker. You can scoot around the automation by clicking, I think it's "Other issues" then "Speak with an agent".
Here's the support documentation for Quintype: https://help.quintype.com
Users must be added to both quintype and the page builder.
For quintype - go to https://matternews.quintype.com/ and click "settings" on the left and then "users and roles" then "users" and there you can add folks. We usually add them via their personal/gmail vs. work email
For page builder - go to https://matternews.pagebuilder.quintype.com/ and click the settings icon at the top and add someone by mail.
Users - only if you're adding someone to the site
Push notification - haven't used, but can
Breaking news - for ticker on top of site - haven't used, but can
Cards:
Use the card for sections.
For a new dubhead, will make new card
Can decide what makes sense to you
Depending on what you dow with the cards, you can turn on card sharing to turn on social media icons for sharing specific sections of the story - haven't used, but can.
In Menu (hit + icon)
Blocks -
Main text block
Can do a summary at top
Also reads are links to other content - don't have it set up to auto link content as of now, but can automate it. For now, we link it manually. We should be doing more
Quote/block quote style options. Big fact is for statistics, etc. Blurbs are the same.
Can do attachments - some restrictions on docs can upload, but allows most.
Opinion poll must be a newer feature
Button, CTA, image gallery, slide show
Don't have formatting options before you type things, but once you type something it'll bring up options
Can upload images to the media gallery or straight into a piece
You unfortunately can't delete images from our gallery after you upload them, unfortunately. Have advocated for that to change.
Collections -
Sections you'd put stuff into. Will create new sections for the new sections of the site we talked about. Jae can do this or explain how to.
For every story, all the metadata is in the "manage" button

Static Pages
Not much in Quintype, pretty blank. Treat it as embeds. We use NicePage's drag and drop designer to make a page. From there, link to the page with an embed code.
This is where you mess with the layout of diff pages and diff page templates (like homepage, text stories, etc.) as well as advertisements
https://matternews.pagebuilder.quintype.com/ -- beware that only 1 person can be logged in at a time! You'll be in read-only mode if someone else is already in page builder
It has been a bit of a struggle to add new static pages to our Quintype site because of the inability to design static pages. They can only be coded, which is why we have started to use Nicepage.com to custom-code our static pages for free. Simply go to the website and either download the app or use the online site builder:
Login via company account
If editing an existing page, just click on it. If making a new page:
be sure to name the page in Nicepage the same name of the actual page on Matter's site
i.e. for matternews.org/donate - in Nicepage, I name the page "Donate"
Go into Quintype and paste this code in the page's static page
be careful to put the page name where you see "XXXXXXX" in the code below. in the example above, "donate":
<div style="width: 100vw; height: 100vh; padding: 0; overflow-y: hidden;">
<iframe height="100%" width="100%" frameborder="0" src="https://matternews.nicepage.io/XXXXXXXX.html"></iframe>
</div>
Design page with drag and drop editor
Publish to website
Note: we paid $60 (with a donation from Jae) for a lifetime license to NicePage, so we can do unlimited pages, multiple sites, and there are more templates and such.
Posts are created from the dashboard and can be created using a variety of templates that match the content being published, e.g. video, photo, text, etc. Posts are created in a typical WYSIWYG drag and drop builder (unlike static Pages). SEO can be updated from within the post as well.
Go to matternews.pagebuilder.quintype.com and login with the same credentials you log into Quintype with.
Go into page builder for ad spots
This is where you actually place the ads on the site
Go into Google Ads Manager for ads
Go to "delivery" and then "creatives" - that's where you upload artwork and such
