SPANISH I

Offered as a year-long course, Spanish I is designed to introduce students to some of the basic features and conventions of the Spanish language. Reading, writing, listening and speaking are key elements in any language acquisition, and these will be of primary focus in this class. In Spanish I, the following topics will be covered: greetings, introductions, the Spanish alphabet, Spanish-speaking countries, numbers, dates, the weather, classroom phrases, describing oneself and others, time, school schedules, classes, describing locations, expressing feelings, expressing likes and dislikes, family, body parts, and clothing. Spanish I introduces students to the perspectives, customs, and traditions of the many Spanish-speaking cultures. Students will explore art, music, food, holidays, social interactions, and idiomatic expressions/phrases. To ensure maximum proficiency, students must have a willingness to participate actively in class each day.
