SENIOR ENGLISH II

Prerequisite: English 9,10,11Grades: 12Credits: 10Credit Type: EnglishOffered: Year-Long Course

This course focuses on English skills needed in the real world. Writing will include aspects of business and personal writing. A “life plan” research paper will be written during the second semester. Grammar and writing mechanics will be reviewed and addressed as needed. Day Book of Critical Reading and Writing will be utilized to build reading and writing skills.

Novels and short stories are read and discussed during the year. Specific titles will vary; however, possibilities include: The Great Gatsby, Fallen Angels, and “To Build a Fire”.

Specific skills include:

  • learn and apply writing skills and strategies to communicate.
  • develop and apply appropriate speaking and listening skills and strategies to communicate for a variety of purposes.
