Geography is defined as the study of the world, its people, and the landscapes they create. Our study of geography will be guided by examining the regions of the world and by using the five themes of geography to help us make sense of our study of the regions of the world. The five themes of geography are as follows:
1. Location - describes where something is
2. Place - describes features that make a site unique
3. Regions - areas that share common characteristics
4. Movement - investigating how and why people and things move
5. Human-Environment Interaction - describes why and how people interact with their environment.
Through this course, students will gain an understanding of geographic terms and general geographic knowledge and apply that knowledge to analyze the relationships between people and their environment and the complex relationships between the many different and unique groups that inhabit this world.
