This course is designed to meet the needs of students who are considering a biology-related career, especially in the health related fields. Career fields (these are just samplings of careers that require anatomy and physiology: Registered Nursing, Physician, Surgeon, Dentistry, Dental hygienist, Physician Assistant, Radiologist and Radiology Technician, Optometrist, Occupational and Physical Therapist, Chiropractor, Veterinarian, Anesthetist, Mortuary Scientist).
The class will focus on the relationship between anatomy and physiology for many of the major human systems. Tests and quizzes will be given over one or two chapters of the textbook and medical terminology workbook. There is a significant amount of memorization and understanding involved in this course.
The course will consist of lectures, class discussions, group experimentation, individual research work, and practical lab exams. The year will conclude with a group crime scene investigation project if time permits.
