Mathematics 8 is an introduction to basic algebraic concepts and algebraic thinking skills. This course is for 8th grade students as a prerequisite to Algebra I. Throughout this course the student will learn about topics including, but not limited to: rational numbers, equations, proportions, similarity, linear functions, nonlinear functions, two dimensional geometry, three dimensional geometry, data analysis and probability. In this class we will explore the use of a scientific calculator. A calculator is not required nor will it be used every day. If there are questions about which calculator to use, please contact the instructor for suggestions.
