INTRODUCTION TO INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY

Grade 8

This 12-week class will allow the students to explore the world of design, manufacturing, energy and transportation.

Early in the class students will be introduced to design options such as drafting and dimensioning with and without the aid of the computer. The importance of industrial technology in our country will be discussed.

As class progresses, students will be involved in the construction of several small projects. These projects will be limited in size and will be in the areas of hand woodworking with power tools. If time allows, the students may explore some CNC (computer numerical control) options.

Requirements

There will be a $5.00 shop fee charged to each student in addition to materials required to construct their projects.

Grading will be done by written tests and quizzes, skills tests and projects, and class participation and work habits.
