Students will develop an understanding of how lifting weights change muscle structure and increases strength (physiology). The initial two weeks of weight training will concentrate on general conditioning so that the body will be ready for an advance weight training program. They will review basic kinesiology and physiological information, the importance of spotting and partners, the significance of repetitions and sets, the differences between training with heavy or light weights, and choosing the proper weight for any exercise. Students will be taught various training methods , such as, super-sets, pyramids, circuit training and they will train using the latest in fitness equipment.
With the advanced weightlifting course, students will focus on Strength, flexibility, mobility and plyometrics. There will be an increased focus on core strength through use of the Vertimax, plyometric activities and Olympic Lifting.
