〇Bingo Studies and International Exchange Special Lecture
Online lecture by Professor Shi Xiaojun (Himeji Dokkyo University)
〇On Tuesday, May 13th, we had a lecture by Professor Shi Xiaojun, a special professor in the School of Industrial Management, School of Human and Social Sciences. The man with white hair in the center of the photo above is Professor Shi Xiaojun. To his left is guest participant Professor Su Hongkai, a professor of information at National Changhua Senior High School in Taiwan.

〇Professor Ishi has mainly studied Asian exchanges during the Sui and Tang dynasties. He has especially focused on the history of exchanges between Japan and China. He has a number of brilliant achievements. For more information, please see the Himeji Dokkyo University website.
〇備後学では、海外という視点を柱の一つに立てています。戸手高校は、備後国芦田川の辺(ほとり）にあります。しかし備後国は、古くから世界と繋がっていたことを意識しています。石特別教授から「古代国際交流史における備後国～遣隋使、遣唐使時代を中心として～」と題して、実際そうだったと専門家の視点から解説していただきました。さらには、戸手高校を中心に日台中を繋いでいるのです。現代では、こういうこともできるのです。

〇One of the pillars of Bingo studies is the overseas perspective. Tode High School is located near the Ashida River in Bingo Province. However, Bingo Province has been aware that it has been connected to the world since ancient times. Professor Ishi gave a lecture titled "Bingo Province in the History of International Exchange in Ancient Times - Focusing on the Period of Japanese Envoys to Sui and Tang Dynasties" in which he explained from an expert's perspective that this was indeed the case.Furthermore, Tode High School is the center of a network between Japan, Taiwan and China. In this modern age, this kind of thing is possible.
〇講義開始直後、アクシデントが生じました。石特別教授のスライドが動かなくなりました。石特別教授は、困っておられると蘇老師が華語で話しかけられました。蘇老師は、ITが専門の先生です。蘇老師の活躍によりスライドは動くようになりました。生徒は、誰しもが協力する大切さを目の当たりにしました。良い刺激になりました。
〇講義開始後不久就發生了事故。石教授的幻燈片已經停止運作了。當石特教授陷入困境時，蘇老師用普通話與他交談。蘇老師是一位IT專業的老師。在蘇師傅的努力下，滑梯又能正常使用了。學生們親眼見證了大家齊心協力的重要性。這是一個很好的刺激。
〇Immediately after the lecture started, an accident occurred. Professor Ishi's slide stopped working. Professor Ishi was in trouble, and Master Su spoke to him in Mandarin. Master Su is a teacher who specializes in IT. Thanks to Master Su's efforts, the slide started working again. The students witnessed the importance of everyone working together. It was a good inspiration.
〇主に遣唐使を中心に講義してくださいました。その中で備後國は元吉備國であることから吉備真備を取り上げられました。現在の井原鉄道に吉備真備駅があることを紹介されました。
〇講座主要講述了日本遣唐使的故事。由於備後國的前身是吉備國，所以講座的重點是吉備真備。講座中提到，現在的井原鐵道上有一個吉備真備站。
〇The lecture focused mainly on the Japanese envoys to the Tang Dynasty. Since Bingo Province was formerly Kibi Province, the lecture focused on Kibi no Makibi. It was mentioned that there is a Kibi no Makibi Station on the current Ibara Railway.

〇We were introduced to Kibi Makibi Memorial Park, located on the north side of Xi'an Castle.
〇石教授認為，“關於賞賜的物品有研究，但關於隨行物品的研究卻很少。有可能是吉備國和備後國的貢品也一起被帶了過來。
〇From Professor Ishi's perspective, "There is research on the things that were bestowed, but there is little research on the things that were brought with them. It is possible that tributes (taxes, laborers' fees, taxes, and local specialties) from Kibi and Bingo provinces were brought with them."
〇聽到與日本及日本研究人員不同的觀點很有趣。這讓我們意識到，備後学需要擁有廣闊的視野，而不僅僅是局限於地方或區域的視角。
〇It was interesting to hear a perspective different from that of Japan and Japanese researchers. It showed us that it is important to have a broad perspective in Bingo studies, not just a local or regional perspective.
