scratch board

for this project we had to start off by creating a test value strip to get used to creating different shades from pressing lighter on the paper. after we made our value strips we had to find a picture that we wanted to use as our refrence photo and then we had to create a copy of it and turn it grey scale (without color) and color all over the back of it an layer it onto pf the scratch board paper and outline the picture to transfer the outline onto the board. after. that we had to cratch away the part where there were highlights and not scratch the shadows to create the correct lighting

i used scratchboard paper, graphite pencils, scratching tools

i think the hardest part of this projject was trying to do it the oppisite way of normal art you had to carve away the highlights insted of put in the highlighst, also it was just hard in general. i think that i did ok definitly not as good as the charcoal drawing but still one of my better pieces. i think that if i did this again i wouldent listen to anyones advice because when people started to tell me what i should do it just started to look sloppy becaue its not what i wanted to do with it
