Plates and Mugs

for this project we had to make four mugs yet i did not have enough time so i made two mugs and two plates i was inspired by the drips that i saw on someone else's project and by the colors of the new glaze that we had just got. we also had to do a carved cylinder pot for a practice pot before hand. we also had to learn some handel techniques so that he could use them for our mugs.

so first on my carved cylinder i made a slab which i cut out a circle using the bottom of the slip container and then i made another slab which i rolled around the bottom of the slip container so it would match the bottom slab. then i let it dry to leather hard and started carving the lines in it. then i blended a whole bunch of glazes and then i used storm to fill in the lines but i only did one coat on the lines. for the mugs i made two slabs and carven them out to make the bottom and then i wrapped more slabs around a tennis ball container to make the mug part. then i use the pulling technique to make the handle on both if my mugs. then i used only flambe and storm on both of my mugs, i used flambé as the bottom color of the left mug and storm as the drips which i love because it turned to like this really cool red color, and then i used storm as the bottom color of the right mug and flambé ad the drip which they also turned a different color to this really dark purple. for my plates i made two slabs and the dropped them over a foam mold then let them dry i cut the rim to make them the plate shape that i wanted and then i glazed them with a gold rim.

i think that i could also have improved the on detail because when i was glazing this and it came out of the kiln, there were little pieces of clay stuck and glazed to the outside of the mugs and it makes it feel a little but sharp and bumpy but it doesn't look smooth anymore and that if i spent more time on them then it could have noticed that and tried to change it and make it the way that i wanted to because this has happened before and i should have learned from my mistakes.
