Hand narrative

8"x12"

Thorny hand

For this project we had to create two pure contour hands based off or picture of our own hands that we took, posing to get what we wanted. I wanted to do a deer head with antlers but after I started drawing and detailing I kind of went away from that, and ended up adding thorn bush branches instead of extended antlers off of the side of the three fingers above the thumb and index fingers. I didn't really want to add any patterns or anything to the inside of the top hand so I created a sort of reflection over the x-axis and that's the hand that is cropped by the paper and is filled with the pattern that I used, which I learned from my elementary school art teacher.

I used 8"x 12" watercolor paper, 6h graphite pencil & a fine point pen

I think something that I could have changed or improved upon is adding a little bit more separation between the top and bottom hands, I think the lines in the bottom hand could be a little bit less messy and straighter, I could have used a ruler to make it more uniform, I also think that instead of using a lot of pen, I could have switched over to ink to get a more defined and darker black color for filling i the spacing for the thorns.
