artist stamp

for this project we had to make a design that was small enough that could be a penny size and fit on a stamp. i was inspired by the creativity in my name and the many ways that i could make it transform into different shapes. i ended up going with a combination of my first name letters and putting them into one which is what you see above.

first i started by wedging the clay and then forming a ball that i rolled out into a thick coil, then i pressed the top on to the table to make a flat surface. after i smoothed it out to get as many fingerprints as i could off and then i set it out to dry. after it was dry i carved away the edges of the stamp and took out the inside space between the lines to finalize my design.

honestly now that it's done i don't think that there is anything else that i would want to do differently, i'm really happy with how it turned out and when i use ti to make my pots it does make a distinct and easily readable stamp which is exactly what i was going for.
