For this project, we made two negative space designs on drawing paper. We colored over the parts that were not meant to be carved out with sharpie. I chose a landscape for my project. We transferred the image onto our carving block and carved out the white spaces. We printed our images on yellow papers to practice inking the paper. We needed to make four prints in total, black and white, extended print, alternative background, and artist choice. For the extended print I just colored in the landscape. And for the alternative background I chose to print on a map because it was simple, but also because it fit the theme of nature. Finally for artist choice I chose to use a different colored ink. For this project, I used shape to make simple, but recognizable images of nature. I used line to create a pattern to make the design more interesting in the mountain region. A challenge I faced with this project was just finding a design that would come out decent, and the smaller lines, and corners took a really long time to carve out. In the end I think my design came out nicely after being printed. Taking the time with the smaller lines made it look so much better.
