Artist Statement

For this project we were originally prompted to create a digital self-portrait. This was later changed to a digital portrait of our choosing. Our instructions were to use photoshop (which we worked with previously during our logos project) and use a photo to create digital art in any choice of realism desired. These projects would later be printed.

For this project, we used an original photo from our devices. These pictures were then imported into photoshop, where we went through the process of coloring. We started by taking the eyedropper tool in order to get similar colors to the original portrait. The next step was to isolate areas of similar colors with the brush tool, and then fill them in with the bucket. Finally, our pieces were printed by our art teacher.

I chose to make my digital portrait of my cat. I chose her because she is important to me, and is a big part of my life. I interact with her on a daily basis, so it was nice to just create something to almost honor her in a way.
