For this investigation, I focused on how identity can be found in the ocean. Water is a part of a lot of people's lives whether it connects them to a person, where they live, or is part of a key moment in their life. The hand reaching in sees itself as a part of that water. I also was inspired by my previous works with hands as the subject. I used guache for the bolder areas of the piece like the background. The hands were done with watercolor. I also made a deep contrast between the hands and the background to set them as the focal point.
