Title of Artwork: Zoom and Crop

Size of Work 9in x 12in

This work was made by using drawings of a shoe and using a viewfinder to crop a part of it. And continued to do that two more times. I experimented with where to place my viewfinder. My piece started as one drawing of a shoe and a paper split in three. I used lines to create texture in the shoelaces. I was most proud of how well I set myself up for the final piece. I gave myself really simple and good options.

To make the work I used my Zoom and Crop to pick the outline for the piece. Then I used a pencil to draw everything in, and then used watercolor for basic colors, before adding detail with pastels. The process I used to create this work was picking one of three of the zoom and crop work and noticed the laces in the corner reminded me of a train track. So I took that and ran with it. My project started as just part of the shoe zoomed in. And then the laces turned to tracks, and for the rest of the work, I just wanted a nature theme. I used the elements of art by using lines to add texture to the wood and grass. I used color to make the piece more balanced and interesting to look at. There isn't much of a story to this piece, but if you want to think about it in those terms I interpret it as just living and exploring. The cat is just walking through a new place, a new sight. I was most proud of the use of texture and different art materials in my work. I didn't think it would like right, but I think it came out nicely. In the beginning, I struggled with coming up with an idea. However, the idea just ended up popping out at me a little while later.
