I decided to focus more on marine animals for my SI. My inquiry is how the ocean is connected to life, so I chose to spotlight the life in the ocean. This piece represents the spirituality connected to manta ray's. The designs and light colors demonstrate the other worldly aspects of the animal. They are connected to powerful spirits and ancestral guardians in hawaiian culture. I use the glass from an old picture frame to do the piece on because I wanted the animal to apear to be on a different surface. I also wanted the glossy look. I painted the top layer first on the back of the glass and then built it up until the final background colors (grey's)
