For this investigation I chose to represent the connection between a keepsake and a moment. I chose to paint a sailboat to represent an activity that one may do, and I put it on a shell because when people go to the beach they usually take one home. I got the shells from a dock in Falmouth, ME and cleaned them. I then used acrylic paint for the boat as it was thick and showed up well on the surface of the shell. I started with the outline of the ship, and blocked out the white spots before going in with color to define the shapes.
