Squiggle Drawing

For this project, we were told to draw a squiggle. The squiggles were then redistributed to other students, and we had to draw something based on a squiggle. My drawing includes a snake. He is holding a flower because even snakes can appreciate the beauty of nature. This work was done in mainly pencil; I sketched it with a pencil, then colored it with colored pencil.

I used color and pattern in this work. I chose red, green, and yellow to make a warm summer theme, then used geometric lines and shapes to make the design on the snake. Originally, there was no flower in the drawing. I felt I was lacking something, so I added the flower. I felt it completed the look.

There is no big meaning behind the artwork, except that maybe animals appreciate nature too. I think snakes are cool. I'm most proud of the composition and how everything balances out really well. I struggled with filling in the empty space, but I drew the flower and it all worked out nicely. I would like the flower to be neater, and I'd like to add a background.
