Sustained Investigation #12

marker testing and doodling

I've been very burnt out in general, but also artistically. I don't want to create these big compositions right now, nor do I think I could at the moment. This is a drawing of a heart, I love the way they look so I enjoy drawing them. I made this in art club and it the only thing I've drawn this week. I just wanted to use colors that I like to draw something that I like.

The materials I used were graphite pencil for the sketch, a red alcohol based marker, a black sharpie, and a red fine point sharpie for the finished product.

I practiced drawing the heart a few times before creating the finished product. I was attempting to draw it without a base sketch first, just the red sharpie, but I couldn't get the proportions right so I ended up doing a sketch with the finished product. I used reference images to get the proportions of the heart correct. I also tested out all of the markers before using them to draw to make sure that the reds were similar (because i used two reds from different brands of markers).
