Abstract Shoe Drawing

For this assignment we were asked to draw three views of our shoe, use a viewfinder zoom in on our shoes and draw that, then we colored the zoomed in shoe. My subject is my converse high top shoe. this work was made by looking at the shoe and drawing it, then placing a viewfinder on the drawing and drawing what we saw. I then used sharpies and colored in the drawing.

The elements and principles I used were color, shape, line, pattern, and unity. I noticed that my sketch had different shapes and lines, and decided wanted to do something different in every shape. I decided to do a color and a theme in each shape. The circle with yellow in it was not part of the shoe. I added it because there was not a lot of space for yellow and I wanted more to create balance.

Each of the patterns inside a shape convey what the color reminds me of; purple is squiggly, blue is round, red is sharp. I am proudest of the blue section, I love the story it tells and how it portrays what the color reminds me of. I struggled in finding enough colors for each section, but I reused some and made exceptions. To make this artwork better I would find more colors and fill in some more white space.
