The story of this drawing is lots of people living their lives and interacting with each other and the environment. There are people talking on phones, and people sitting on the edges of the circles, which act as windows. I really wanted to make a project using the things I worked on this year- color and line. Some of these characters ended up accidentally looking like me or people I knew.
This work was made with an 005 Micron pen and watercolor. I started out sketching people into the circles with pencil. I then lined them with the Micron pen. Lastly, I colored in the circles with watercolor.
This drawing was focused on line, color, value, and space. I made sure to vary line thickness and create value with the characters in the drawing. I also wanted to experiment with space by having people inside and outside of the circles. I knew I wanted to use color to bring out the characters more, so I decided to continue with my rainbow theme and add color in each of the circles behind the characters. At first, I didn't know how to color the background in order to emphasize the characters. But when I was talking to my mom, she mentioned going diagonal and I decided to color a diagonal rainbow in the circles. My next steps would be to darken the color in the circles and possibly add a grey or black to the negative space outside of the circles.
