We were told to look at our hands and draw them without looking at the paper. We had to synch our pencils and eyes and trace the lines on our hands. We had to do the same thing while looking at ourselves in a mirror. We were then told to turn these drawings into a colorful work of art. The subject of my creation is myself. There are two drawings of my face and one of each hand. the work was drawn with sharpie and colored with marker.
This work uses color, shape, and line. It's just a bunch of drawings put together with lines, then I colored in the shapes. It was originally three blind contour drawings, but because of space and balance I added a fourth, then extended and connected lines to create more closed shapes.
Its inspired by the psychedelic stuff of the sixties and seventies, mostly the movie Yellow Submarine. The drawings are all me, yet they don't even seem human. I am proud of the colors I used and how I colored in each of the shapes. I feel the art was very unique. I was a bit upset that the markers kind of bled into each other, but it still ended up looking cool so it was fine. Next time I'll use sharpie to prevent the overlap lines. If I could change it, I would add a few more lines and shapes in the corners to balance out the space.
