in the word graphic, the octopus is the O and is making the C with its tentacles. in the Freeport graphic, someone is performing under a spotlight. i am in the theatre program here at Freeport, so i wanted to make a logo commemorating it. the posing in the graphic is also one we do in the musical a lot this year.

For the word graphic, i used pen and colored pencil. i started by sketching out the word and images, then lined it with pen and colored with pencil. For the Freeport graphic, i used marker. i sketched the image with pencil, then colored everything with marker.

for both drawings, i started by sketching and colored over the sketch with other materials. the word graphic project originally only had the octopus as the O, but i decided to make the tentacles hint at the C and the T. i also varied the thickness of the lines. my next steps would be to make the octopus one color instead of shading. For the Freeport graphic, i originally had someone in the middle, then decided it would be much more interesting if the person was a little outside the circle. My next steps would be to clean up the coloring and make the backdrop more square shaped.
