We were told to create a value scale using tints and shades of a primary, then a secondary color. Then we were told to create an image using 84 colors: the primary, secondary, and tertiary colors and 3 shades and tints for each. The subject of my creation is two girls embracing. I used paints and paintbrushes, and painted over a light sketch I had done.
I used color with all of the different colors i used, value with shading with the tints and shades, balance by making the image nearly symmetrical, contrast by using cool colors on one girl and warm on the other, and unity. The project didn't evolve much. I had to change the hair a lot.
In my head, the two girls I painted were girlfriends. I just don't see a lot of lesbian representation so I thought it'd be cool to do something like that. I'm proudest of the value I created on the bodies. I struggled with the hair because the paint would dry or I wouldn't mix enough. Also I ran out of room on the cool hair and didn't have enough color on the warm hair. I didn't really overcome them. I dislike all of the white spaces left behind since I didn't mix enough paint.
