Sustained Investigation #8

I wanted to tell a story about grief. I wanted to incorporate different parts of the body to show how it feels to be grieving and in emotional pain. I wanted to focus on the pain in your heart that you feel when you grieve, and how your brain seems to wander, whether its memories or intrusive thoughts or "what-ifs." I wanted to show how you neglect the rest of you when your grieving, hence the guts all over the floor. I also wanted there to be a lot of tears. I've felt grief many times, so I wanted to make a visual aspect to what I've felt.

I used graphite pencil to make the sketch. I will use watercolor and black and white pens.

My next steps will be to add line art with black pen and color with watercolor. I'm thinking of changing the cropping to make a more interesting piece as well.
