finding your voice

This work portrays what pollution is doing to the planet and the people on it. Today, climate change is a big issue in politics. Humans are destroying the planet, and many governments, especially ours, aren't doing anything about it. This bothers me, because I really dont want to have to deal with dying or moving to a new planet.

I used charcoal and watercolor. charcoal is good for textures and shading, and made it so that the drawing was greyscale. This gave it the somber mood I wanted. I also used watercolor to add different textures in some places, and add color on trash for emphasis.

I started with a graphite sketch, then colored the parts where I wanted watercolor. Then I filled in the rest of the work with charcoal. In this work I used color, because only the trash is colorful. This adds emphasis on the trash. I also used value and texture in the shading with charcoal. There is also space because theres many different objects on different planes.
