Personal Statement: I am an assistant principal at PS 130, which is located in the Chinatown/Little Italy neighborhood of Manhattan. A native Long Islander (with the accent to prove it), I moved to New York after high school. I studied Journalism and Irish Studies at NYU, but after working as a tutor at PS 130, decided to pursue a degree in education at Fordham University. Before becoming an AP,
I taught first grade and Physical Education, and was also a writer on the Move-to-Improve curriculum for Grades 4-5. I am a “fitness-junkie.” Outside of work, I enjoy running, kickboxing, and picking up heavy things and putting them down again. (I do not really like yoga.)
I work hard to support students in developing a positive mindset and self-image. I hope that this will help them to treat themselves and others with kindness, and to give their best effort in school every day. In working with teachers, I stress using multiple sources of feedback and data, including self-reflection, to make student-centered instructional decisions.
