Personal Statement: I have been teaching High School in the NYC Public School System for twelve years as a Social Studies and Special Education Teacher. I am especially interested in helping students finding their voice and helping them develop their literacy skills, especially that of historical reasoning.

I believe in the small school model for struggling students, especially when teachers are organized around grade teams and teachers have leadership roles. When I am not teaching I prefer to live out of a backpack and or tent in the world's deserts, highlands, rain forests and visit cities for their museums and street food.
