This collage piece was inspired by retro postcards found all through tourist shops. It combines typography, photography, and mixed media, as the fisherman's boat is a cutout from a 1962 National Geographic magazine. With the waves coming up to the storefront, it also gives a sense of a surrealism of a future world with rising tides.
This piece is a blend of hand drawn elements, and digital graphic design. Inspired by my time in band, I aimed to make an informative piece on a topic I wanted to learn more about. Through my research, I found statistics that I hadn’t heard before, and realized that it does apply to the band I play in as well. The theme of this piece leans more retro, with influences from old ads. There is also a feature of clarinetist Benny Goodman, who is known as the King of Swing, and is one of the most well known clarinetists of all time.
This piece combines film and photography techniques, video editing, and digital media assets. There are two ukuleles featured, playing in a duet. The piece embodies the feelings of a warm spring afternoon, with music floating through the breeze. The cool colored hand drawn then turned digital music notes, also invoke a sense of childlike comfort, and contrasts with the warm colors of the ukuleles. Using a slow shutter speed, allowed the waves of the strings to be caught on camera, and can be seen as a reminder to slow down and appreciate the little things that go unnoticed.
