BIOGRAPHY
I am an artist who has been practicing 3D modeling for the past five years currently pursuing a degree in Digital Media Art with hopes to be an artist for films or video games in the future. I picked up an interest in 3D modeling from all the media I consumed growing up most of which being 3D, especially with video games. It was from all that media that I gained an appreciation for all the models and designs used to make them and it encouraged me to want to make some for myself. I really enjoy making 3D models in software such as Blender due to all of the options and overall sense of control I have at hand when working there to create all sorts of models from characters to objects to environments and more.
CURTIS KONZEM, DIAL - UP INTERNET, LASER CUT MODEL, 2023
This piece is a fusion of a dial phone and an internet router as a play on dial-up internet from the early days of the web. The design was first created as a 3D model before being chopped up into a series of interlocking panels that are then laser cut onto a sheet of wood to be punched out and assembled
CURTIS KONZEM, CHOOSE YOUR AVATAR, 3D MODELING/ANIMATION,2024
This piece explores a hypothetical future where the ability to upload your mind into a mechanical body is not only possible but a common practice among the general public. With this new body, one is liberated from the biological constants that limit their previous human form and can take the appearance of whatever their heart desires. Want to have more arms, more legs, bigger, smaller, a different color? You can have any of those as easy as changing your clothes. Don’t like your gender? You can change it out to become a man, woman, both, neither, or something else entirely. You’re not limited to being human either, you can also take a form that is far more animal or alien or perhaps you want to ditch being organic and become all machine and no man. In this piece, we witness a couple of such mechanical frames on display showcasing their designs in detail.
